This position is responsible for the specification, design, and implementation of machine vision and control systems for new and existing high-speed lamp manufacturing equipment, in compliance with company, national, and international standards.
The successful candidate will:
* Work within cross-functional project teams. Develop and install new/enhanced machine vision system applications while working with controls, mechanical and process engineering.
* Assist with difficult troubleshooting on new and existing vision and control systems.
* Evaluate and propose upgrade paths for obsolete equipment.
* Coordinate and direct technicians as required.
* Provide training for maintenance and other associates, on the use and support of control systems applications.
* Stay knowledgeable of latest machine vision technology.
* This position requires in-depth knowledge of applying machine vision technology in a manufacturing environment for: on-line and off-line inspection, vision controlled positioning, defect analysis, and optical character verification.
* Knowledgeable in the selection and application of optics and novel lighting techniques.
* Software experience required: Visual Basic/VB.net (Visual Studio), C/C++, WINDOWS applications, PLC ladder logic.
* In-depth machine vision experience with at least one of the following required: PCI-Video, Cognex/DVT, Sherlock, LZM Vision.
* Required to stay knowledgeable in the of latest machine vision technology.
* Requires excellent interpersonal skills.
* Experienced in project planning and tracking. Must know how to write and interpret technical specifications.
* The candidate should also be familiar with hardware and software application of PLC's and industrial computers, various industrial sensing applications, and motion control.

Education and Experience Requirements:
BSEE or a related discipline required.
Advanced degrees preferred.
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated success in applying automated control systems in a manufacturing environment
(Band placement dependent on experience).
